Of Keepsakes and Kindling: The Story Behind This Year’s Christmas Ornaments
A little something soft, story-rich, and made for memory-making.
This season, I wanted to tuck in something extra with the Christmas Edens.
Something small, but meaningful.
Something you could hold — and best-case scenario, turn into a family activity.
So I picked out a mix of ornaments — not just for how they look,
but for what they invite: play, memory-making, togetherness.
Why ornaments?
I’ve always loved them.
They’re these tiny time capsules — full of stories, textures, and traditions.
Some were bought because they were beautiful. Others, collected slowly, carry memories from places I’ve travelled or moments that meant something.
And because I come from an early childhood education background, I naturally think in terms of play.
Tactile, sensory, thoughtful play.
Not just for young minds — but for caring for our inner child, too.
Some of the ornaments this year are made of soft felt — perfect for curious little hands.
Others are crafted from harder materials — lovely for older kids, or simply to admire on your own tree.
But the real magic?
It’s in what happens around them.
Humour me for a moment — step into my head.
Picture this:
You’re gathered around your Eden.
Picking out where each ornament should go. There’s chatter.
Someone’s debating which side is “more balanced.”
One falls off. Laughter. A rehang. A new plan.
Maybe it’s your child choosing their favourite.
Maybe it’s you, noticing how soft the felt feels in your hand.
And for a few moments — it’s not just decor.
It’s connection.
That’s the kind of scene I see when I dream up these pieces.
Not just for looking pretty (though they do).
But for creating a moment. A memory.
A little tradition of your own.
I wanted to build a space where design meets experience.
Where beauty doesn’t just sit still —
it moves with your family, your rituals, your stories.
For the first five...
The first five Christmas Edens will come with a set of these ornaments as a little bonus.
Felted, sculptural, child-friendly, story-rich.
Something to hang together.
Or to gift forward, with love.
